Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - a land of emerald green ocean, pristine beaches, lush jungle, luxurious resorts, world-class dining and shopping - a town teaming with history and culture and populated with friendly and smiling locals... the perfect paradise...
Yet...just blocks from Puerto Vallarta's lovely facade reside many children and families in need. Most visitors to Puerto Vallarta never see the harsher reality of life in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, still classified as a third world country. The majority of the local Vallartans work at poverty-level salaries, relying on an economy whose main industry is tourism, an industry highly seasonal and strongly affected by social and economic situations in the U.S. and abroad. Incomes vary drastically from year to year. Many of the local people cannot afford the excellent health care of Vallarta's private hospitals and must rely on a less-than-adequate social health system (assuming a family member's employer even provides coverage). A child with medical needs can be a huge burden for the typical local family of Puerto Vallarta.
But CAFIN offers more than a spark of hope for these families. We offer real solutions: needed medical attention, nutritional, dental and medical education, donations of clothing and hygiene items, school materials and medical supplies. CAFIN also provides support to other well-established local assistance programs. We invite you to learn more about our history, our programs, how we do it, and how you can help.
